Last week Bongo actress Wema Sepetu was summoned to a police station in Dar es Salaam over drug trafficking and use charges.

With the way the police were pumped up you would think that Wema Sepetu was slangin' cocaine or shooting heroin but as it turns out Wema was just using marijuana.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Simon Sirro the Police Commissioner in Dar es Salaam said that they had progressed in their fight against drug abuse and the 4 day interrogation had paid off.

112 people had been arrested in the drug bust and 296 packets of narcotics had been seized. 12 people have already been taken to court after some accepted while others denied the charges levelled against them.

In his speech, the commissioner recommended that the accused should spend at least two years under tight security as guests of the state so they could mend their ways .

Speaking on the case of Wema Sepetu who had been accused of using cocaine a.k.a unga, he reported that no cocaine had been found in the house. But other drugs had been found, Marijuana.

“Kuna huyu Wema Sepetu, huyu mnyamwezi miaka 2008. Baada ya kumhoji na kuwahoji wenzake wanaotumia nao walieleza vizuri, tulipokwenda nyumbani kwake alipatakana na msokoto wa bangi na baaadhi ya karatasi ya ambayo anatumia kufunga madawa hayo” he said before adding that they had enough evidence against her to put her behind bars. (There is this star called Wema Sepetu. After interrogating her and her friends who she smokes up with, we found out that she had a roll of marijuana in her house and rizzlers to roll up the drugs.)
