Bridget Achieng gave birth to her handsome son last week and named him Sekani Rich Opeyemii. A name that left fans wondering what the names mean as these are rare names in Kenya.

Bridget has now explained why she named her son Sekani Rich and named him ‘Opeyemii’ after her baby daddy who abandoned her when she was 3 months pregnant.

“Sekani is an Egyptian name meaning ‘joy’ and Sekani has brought me joy… I am giving my child a name with meaning first one means joy as I don’t want my child to be sad because most of my childhood I was sad because no one was listening to me because my mum was like ‘Bridget ameenda shule amekula ako sawa.’ I called him ‘Rich’ because I want him to be rich, I don’t want him to lack anything. I want everything that is in this world he can acquire it,” she explained in a video dedicated to her son.

She also revealed why she named him Opeyemii despite her baby daddy’s antics.

“I have given him Opeyemii because that is his father’s native name. I know many people will ask why you gave him the baby daddy’s name, but you know what he is a boy and he will have to go to his roots someday. Like I said my baby will know everything I will teach him everything I will not coat anything,” she disclosed.

“I got abandoned with the pregnancy at three months old. Since my baby daddy left, I have never set my eyes on him and he has never contacted me,” Bridget disclosed. Before abandoning her, the guy asked her to terminate the pregnancy.

“When you asked me to terminate my pregnancy when I was three months pregnant I was all alone, disturbed and depressed. I don’t know what made you go away, I don’t know what made you run away. I kept looking at myself in the mirror and asking ‘am I ugly?’ ” an emotional Bridget said addressing her baby daddy in a video.

The Nairobi Diaries star disclosed that after her baby daddy left she was so depressed until the 5th month when she realized that she had to put on her big girl panties and take charge as the baby was on the way. As they say ‘All things work for good’ and things have been great for Bridget as the little boy has brought her immense joy as evidenced by how she talks about him.
