After failing to clinch the Jubilee party ticket, Kabogo decided to vie as an independent candidate despite Kiambu people choosing Waititu as their candidate with 358,604 votes to Kabogo's 69,916.
Despite his offensive comments about women and especially single mothers in the past, he seems to have a soft spot for his wife Philomena who is one of the hottest political wives around. And he managed to salvage his reputation after he was spotted showing some PDA after lovingly holding a smiling Philomena.

We bumped into a rare never-seen-before photo of Kiambu governor Kabogo and his wife Philomena Kabogo during their ‘hey days’. The couple that has two sons was going in for a church service and Kabogo was in a baggy grey suit, a full head of hair and glasses. Philomena ever the classy lady was decked out in a skirt suit and a hat which were a very popular fashion statement at that time.
