His departure comes in the wake of a poaching spree by Citizen TV bringing in news anchors from competing stations amid reports that they plan to launch a 24-hour news channel.

Salim Swaleh

Mr. Raburu becomes the second person to leave Citizen TV after Salim Swaleh who allegedly resigned following a deal that conflicted with his job.

It was reported that Mr. Swaleh may have found himself in the fights between Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, something he strongly denied.

“Yes, it is true I left Citizen TV a week ago. I resigned for personal reasons not because of what I am reading online. My salary and the little I get from my businesses is enough money for me. I am a professional journalist who has worked with international media entities,” Salim said.
