She grew up in Jinja, Uganda. Her maternal grandfather is Indian, while her grandmother is Ugandan. Her paternal grandfather is of Somalia origin while the grandmother hails from Burundi.

She is a mother of five and formerly married to the late Ivan Ssemwanga. Zari was in a relationship with Diamond and sired two kids before she dumped him.

Over the years she has grown to be a wealthy woman and is currently the owner of Brooklyn College Schools in Pretoria South Africa. The boss lady has grown to become a force to reckon with in the business Industry.
