I’m sad my mom ain’t here- Zari Hassan’s sister says during her wedding (Photos)

Zari Hassan’s baby sister is off the market.

Though she was happy to finally tie the knot with the love of her life, Zuleha revealed that she wished her mother was there to witness it.

“Every day I spend with you is a blessing in disguise, you fill my heart with joy and happiness and I'm glad it's you I'm starting this journey with. My only sadness is that my mom ain't here to rejoice with me. # Guns and bullets. Love you,” She captioned a photo of her cermony.

Aside from the religious Islamic wedding Zuleha also got dolled up for her traditional ceremony, the Kukyala as per Baganda traditions.

The Kukyala is an event where the groom-to-be visits the girl’s parents/guardians to declare his intentions to marry their daughter and also for the parents to get familiar with their future in-law. In the ceremony, the bride price (Omutwalo) is also set.

In addition, the Kukyala prevents situations like one marrying an unknown relative or clan member.

“The visit helps the parents to know the man as an individual and his brief family background. This is intended to avoid a clash on cultural norms such as one having to marry an unknown family relative, which would be incest or marrying from the same clan, something that is strictly forbidden among the Baganda,” explains an article on Uganda’s wedding planning website Mikolo.com.
