The tragic killings happened in Murang’a where 23-year-old Kennedy Murimi was stabbed to death by his girlfriend Salome Wambui after he refused to give her back a phone that she had given him.
According to Kangema OCPD, Cosmas Wachang’oka, Salome stabbed her lover twice on the neck and chest. He said, “Mr Murimi’s body was oozing blood while Ms Wambui’s body was burnt. We took their bodies to Murang’a morgue."
Murimi’s mother, Flasia Nyambura Karuiki said that Salome had spent the night at Murimi’s female cousin’s house.“She came to my son’s house in the morning and walked out, but a few minutes we heard a loud scream. Then we found my son lying in a pool of blood,” said the bereaved mother who added that her son died on the spot."
A witness to Salome’s lynching, one James Mwaura, said that Salome’s rudeness and threats to kill anyone who got near her when she was questioned over the killing angered the crowd who beat her up before setting her ablaze.
He said, “That’s how the members of public got furious and started beating Wambui and later lynched her."
Kennedy’s mother revealed that her slain son was the last born and a source of financial aid to the family.
The police boss said that they have began investigating the matter.
