Anger leads man to reduce cat to ashes

A man in Kaporon village Bureti Constituency, Kericho County throttled a cat then burned it following a disagreement with his wife.

According to area residents, the wrangle rose as a result of the two being unable to agree on matters to do with their children’s school fees.

The 59 year old man who works in Nakuru County arrived home on Monday evening and initiated the conversation with his wife before hell broke loose.

Drunk

The man’s brother Samuel Koskei said that the suspect went for a drink before the issue escalated.

Mr Koskei discloses that his brother’s wife and children did held a meeting.

“My brother was not aware what the agenda a meeting held by his wife and Children entailed. On arrival, he was given a cold reception,” said Mr Koskei.

Denied food

Koskei added that his brother was denied food and his kids and wife ganged up against him and unsuccessfully attempted to beat him. This annoyed him. His children then escaped into hiding.

The man’s raging anger led him to the kitchen where he got hold of a cat and strangled it before throwing it to a fire.

Kipsigis village elders beseeched the man to perform a ritual seeking the cat’s forgiveness which is a norm in Kipsigis culture.
