The woman said she was ready to return the property if Otunga was ready to accept her back
In her defence, she pleaded guilty of stealing her lover’s property so as to win his heart perhaps in an apparent ploy to have the matter settled out of court.
Disappearing act
The victim, Alan Otunga had reportedly gone to work on the mentioned date and returned home to find his property missing. His girlfriend was also nowhere to be seen.
The prosecution stated that Otunga had earlier received call on 15th June from the accused who was in the village that she was coming to visit him in the city to rekindle their love according to a report by SDE.
In court, the accused claimed that she moved to the city after a three-month courtship with Otunga who convinced her to auction all her property and head to the city.
Squandered money
“Your honour, what will I do with my children who were going to school and now they are stranded? I even sold everything I owned and came to Nairobi. Initially I had a lot of money when I came but with time the money got finished and Otunga started harassing and mistreating me” she told the court.
When their relationship went south, the court heard the accused decided to move out with his property as security after the complainant failed to treat her like a lover, claiming that he had promised to marry her even after playing a part in squandering her money.
The accused further told the court that she was ready to return the property if Otunga was ready to accept her back or be assisted to get back some money she claimed to have given the complaint so as to allow her to go back home.
