The man who worked as a security guard tried in vain to convince the conductor that he had no more money left.
Witnesses accounts stated that the argument started after conductor ordered the guard to top up Sh 10 on top of the Sh 20 he had already paid.
The security guard, who had boarded the bus in Kangemi and was to alight at the Safaricom stage, was instantly killed after the bus ran him over.
In a separate incident, Julius Kamau, a matatu conductor operating along the Kasarani-Mwiki route was beaten to death for allegedly overcharging passengers.
He worked for the Mwiki Sacco Limited (MSL) and was assaulted by a group of men believed to be the Sacco’s officials.
According to reports, Kamau charged the passengers Sh100, Sh20 more than the Sacco’s recommended Sh80.
Kamau was accosted by two Sacco officials upon arrival in Kasarani from town, demanding to know how much he’d charged the passengers.
A fight ensued with the pair beating up Kamau, accusing him of tainting the Sacco’s image.
