Kisii University confirms student died while on transit to Nairobi [PHOTO]

May her soul rest in peace

What remains unclear, however, is whether the lady died while in the vehicle or developed complications after alighting.

Felister Shamim Deraso a fourth year student at Kisii University student from Isiolo, died on transit, the University Assistant Dean of Students Mr Francis Kerongo has confirmed to Pulselive.co.ke.

“We have information that the lady actually died on transit and we are trying to engage the family on this matter.

"The student who died is called Felister Shamim Deraso a year four semester two students in Kisii University Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences undertaking a bachelors in Economics and Sociology. She passed on in Nairobi and we are meeting with the family about the death circumstances and funeral arrangements," the University Assistant Dean told Pulselive.co.ke on phone.

Earlier, such messages were widely shared on Facebook:

"Today everything at Transline offices Nairobi (Afya Centre) almost came to a standstill when a Nissan shuttle from Kisii arrived with one of the passengers dead.

“The driver tried to tell her to alight and pave way for other customers only to realize that she was speaking to a dead person (the lady in the pic),” a Kingsley Dennis Mogeni shared the bad news in a series of Facebook posts in groups.

Transline Classic response

Contacted for a comment, Transline Classic Shuttle attendant, who only identified himself as Peter, told Pulselive.co.ke via phone on Thursday that he was not aware of the scene.

The tough talking Peter hang up on Pulselive.co.ke but promised to ‘investigate the matter’ given he was not on duty last night.

“I don’t know anything about such a story. But I want to ask around and find out what happened because I wasn’t on duty at night, call me later,” he said.

Subsequent calls to the public service vehicle didn’t go through as all the alternative lines had eventually gone off.

While Pulselive.co.ke cannot independently verify the source or authenticity of the image, attempts to have the truth told have been met with ruthless officers, who arrogantly told off this writer.
