Leaving babies when they cry is wrong according to new research

Babies who get less attention are likely to grow up to become depressed adults according to the study.

This theory was confirmed by Professor Darcia Narvaez of the institution who cautioned that babies who receive little attention are likely to grow up depressed.

In a chat with Tribine Media, the professor said, “What parents do in those early months and years are really affecting the way the brain is going to grow the rest of their lives, so lots of holding, touching and rocking, that is what babies expect,”

“They grow better that way. And keep them calm, because all sorts of systems are establishing the way they are going to work. If you let them cry a lot, those systems are going to be easily triggered into stress.

“We can see that in adulthood, that people that are not cared for well, tend to be more stress reactive and they have a hard time self-calming.”

The theory was the product of a research on a number of 600 adults which would soon be added to the Applied Development Science journal.

Results showed that those who developed well adjusted personalities were because of the attention they received as infants.
