A scanned document on the IEBC website shows that Uhuru Kenyatta and his rival Raila Odinga were listed as respective party agents in the just concluded elections.
According to the document, which a rare show, Mr Odinga and Mr Uhuru are listed as having signed off the document before it was scanned for transmission from the polling station.
The form which is for Kathungu Primary School polling station in Kagaari South Ward, Runyenjes Constituency of Embu County has the names of the party agents indicated as those of Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, but the agents filled the forms with their ID numbers, phone numbers and appended their respective signatures.
In a response however, IEBC’s Communication Manager Andrew Limo divulged that the only people allowed to sign the document are the party agents, and not the presidential candidates.
Unfortunately, the form on the website is also not stamped, raising more questions of the credibility of the exercise that has raised many questions.
“Currently, we are auditing and reviewing the process basically to check some of the officers who failed to do what was required of them. Stamping was a way to ensure that the document is authentic. But we also used other ways to confirm the authenticity,” Mr Limo said.
The presiding officers of the polling station, according to the comment on the form by the returning officer Ezekiel Mugendi Ireri said that “some agents had left the station by the time of counting”.
