Speaking during a television interview, Akombe mentioned that she will willfully step down from office if the Director of Public Prosecution finds her culpable.
The Commissioner noted that if her integrity regarding the bungled General Election was questioned by the relevant authorities then she was ready to resign.
“If there is anything that comes and touches on my integrity and ability to perform, I will step down.
“If the relevant authorities find me guilty of anything that happened during the election process I will not hesitate to resign,” Dr. Akombe stated.
She highlighted that IEBC was doing everything in its power to ensure that Jubilee and NASA participate in the fresh presidential election on levelled playing field.
Dr. Akombe maintained that IEBC was ready to listen to both parties hence reason for the scheduled consultative meetings.
Her remarks come in the wake of anti-IEBC protests, in which NASA supporters are demanding the removal of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba.
However, Chiloba insisted that he will not resign but work to ensure that the fresh presidential election is held according to the orders of the Supreme Court.
