Munya baffled friends and foe after he defected to NASA and re-defected back to Jubilee in a record 9 days.
After his return to Jubilee, the conflicted governor announced that he would campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta but would not work with the Jubilee team, arguing that he had “unresolved with Kiraitu”.
“We will form a brigade different from the (Jubilee group led by Kiraitu). I have my own party – PNU,” Munya stated last week on Tuesday.
Munya was referring to a petition he had lodged against his successor and political rival Kiraitu Murungi.
However, on Wednesday, the politically elusive former politician announced that he would work together with Murungi for the sake of President Kenyatta’s re-election.
The President had called the two Meru leaders at State House where he struck a truce aimed at reinforcing his re-election campaign in the critical Upper Eastern stronghold.
“Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and his predecessor Peter Munya have agreed to resolve their differences and work as a team to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta wins with a bigger margin in the fresh election of October 26,” PSCU stated in statement released on Wednesday.
