Education PS Belio Kipsang announced that the earlier dates set by CS Fred Matiang'i would not be changed, adding that the current timetable will be final.
The KCSE exams will start on October 23rd when students will take language oral tests.
The exams will go on until November 29 when the candidates will sit for their Physics practicals.
“That commitment has been made and I assure you nothing will make us change the dates,” Kipsang affirmed.
The ministry issued the clarification following the concerted efforts by the NASA coalition to have the repeat Presidential polls pushed from October 17th to the 24th of the same month.
NASA leader Raila Odinga has argued that the national exams ought to be pushed to provide extra time for the IEBC to prepare and conduct the repeat polls.
Matiang’i had initially requested IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati to have the election held at least a week before the 17th given that many of the public schools serve as polling stations and tallying centres.
