Sossion in trouble after dumping Raila

Sossion runs trouble after ditching Raila's offer.

The Elections Act 2017, provides that a political party list submitted to the IEBC is final and cannot be amended or withdrawn after the polls.

The Elections Act provides that in case a nominee dies, withdraws or resigns - even after swearing in-the next candidate of the same gender in the list and in the order of the party’s priority will be allocated the slot.

On Monday, Sossion turned down an ODM nomination offer to the National Assembly ahead of a meeting of the union’s top decision-making organ.

Sossion said he had many commitments at the union thus he could not take up the offer as a nominated MP.

It emerged that the Knut National Executive Council had asked him to choose between remaining at the union and joining Parliament.

During the swearing-in ceremony of Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis, Sossion asked ODM to replace his name with another person.

“I take this early opportunity to thank my party leader Raila Odinga for picking me for the nomination list to Parliament, but I now want to urge him to withdraw me from the list and consider appointing another person because I have got other commitments to attend to,” Sossion said.

Sossion had openly supported NASA and its leader Raila Odinga in the run up to the August 8 elections while other top KNUT officials such as Chairman Mudzo Nzili were backing President Uhuru Kenyatta.
