New report reveals that 160 people get infected with HIV daily at the Coast
Worrying news.
This is according to the National AIDS Control Council.
Youths between the ages of 18 and 24 years were the most affected.
Findings also indicated that boda boda riders and homosexuals lead in the newest HIV infections.
National AIDS Control Coast Coordinator Julius Koome said the worrying trend came as a result of unprotected sex.
“The statistics are so worrying. We are finding measures to prevent new infections,” he was quoted by The Standard.
Koome also blamed the new infrastructural projects in the coast and drug abuse as a result of the HIV infections.
The coastal region records 61,000 new infections every year.
