Eating one service of leafy green vegetables may help retain your memory as you age, newly released research has shown.

Elderly people who ate at least one serving of leafy greens per day were found to be 11 years younger (mentally) than the elderly people who don't eat leafy greens.

The research was published in the science journal Neurology.

No cause and effect was provided as only a survey was conducted.

The study observed 960 people aged over 81 and didn't suffer from dementia.

Limited red meat also showed reduced risk of dementia.

Eating a diet rich in Vitamin K was observed to help people perform better in memory tests.

Healthy consumption of leafy greens, limited red meat, regular exercise, and avoiding smoking greatly reduces risk of dementia.
