With the current rains being experienced in parts of Kenya, it’s definitely braids and cornrows season.

We need to save our weaves and wigs for later. Every now and then, we come across cute braiding styles that are trending. Last year we saw the beaded tribal braid styles which actually crossed over to this year as well as the lemonade braids that were named after Beyonce following the launch of her Lemonde album.

This year, what’s trending is the top knot bun cornrow style that’s absolutely stunning. We have seen the style on many fashion IT girls, influencers as well as Kenyan celebrities such as Amina Abdi. The style is pretty versatile since you can choose to either tie the braids into a top knot, you can let them down for a mohawk braids look or even braid the top part into a chunky braid.

To have an even more authentic look, you can choose to go for colored braids such as burgundy braids or those ombre braids. The longer the braids, the cuter the style.
