Apparently wearing socks in bed, aside from keeping you warm and giving you a good night’s sleep, makes you a better lover.
This is according to a study conducted by the University of Groningen.
From the 13 couples that were studied, those that wore socks were found to be more likely to orgasm.
Among the women, 50 percent got an orgasm without socks while 80 percent achieved an orgasm while wearing socks in bed.
The researchers believe that the reason behind this is the fact that “women react negatively to the feeling of their partner’s cold feet which is no longer the case once socks are on”.
Other advantages of wearing socks to your health
Wearing socks to bed has other advantages as well. They include making one sleep faster and easing the symptoms of menopause.
In a 2007 study from the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN), people that wore socks to bed slept faster as compared to those that didn’t.
Through a process known as vasodilation, warmer feet cause the blood to cool down by dilating the blood vessels around the body.
The study was published in the journal Physiology and Behavior.
Wearing socks helps to reduce some effects of menopause such as hot flashes. It does so by making the body regulate its temperature at night.
The study by the University of Groningen was conducted in 2005 and was presented at the European Society for Human Reproduction and Development in Copenhagen.
The study was initially conducted to discover the brain activity during sex.
