One thing we can be at least thankful for at the beginning of a new year in Kenya is that it’s mango season and who doesn’t love a nice, juicy and sweet mango? A majority of us love the fruit for its sweetness. But, did you know that it’s a pretty healthy one too? That’s right, here are some health benefits of eating mangoes that you should know about:

1. Contain anticancer properties.

The phenolic compound found in mangoes has been found to have powerful antioxidant and anticancer properties.

2. They're great for people suffering from anemia.

Being high in iron, mangoes are said to be very good for pregnant women as well as people suffering from anemia.

3. Unclog skin pores.

Mangoes are believed to be effective in relieving clogged pores of the skin.

4. Preventing against heart disease.

The vitamin A, E and selenium present in mangoes provide protection against heart disease.

5. Aid digestion.

Mangoes have been found to be quite helpful in treating acidity and poor digestion, because they’re rich in fiber.

6. Boosting sex life.

It’s said that the vitamin E present in mangoes helps hormonal system function more efficiently and thus, boosts sex life.

7. Good for people with asthma.

The anti-inflammatory properties in mangoes help alleviate asthma symptoms.
