Former Citizen TV sports journalist Bernard Ndong might be heading to NTV, weeks after exiting the Royal Media Services station.
Former Citizen TV sports anchor Bernard Ndong heading to NTV
Bernard Ndong left Citizen TV on June 25 ending a 13 year stint at the station.
Ndong, who is yet to be officially unveiled at NTV, is set to join the sports desk which is led by Elias Makori and has other journalists such as Idah Waringa and Joshua Makori.
Reliable reports indicate that Ndong accepted a lead sports editor role, and joins the station which has - in recent weeks - been hiring talent from other media houses.
Ndong is the second journalist to recently exit Citizen TV and joins the Nation Media Group after Joe Ageyo.
Nation Media Group has also poached talent from the Standard Media group bringing on board Lofti Matambo, Fridah Mwaka, Nicholas Wambua, Ben Kitili and Ibrahim Karanja.
The station also sought the services of former radio Africa Digital Editor Oliver Mathenge who joined the station in the same capacity
Ndong left Citizen TV on June 25, and received an emotional farewell from the crew who showered him with messages of praise for an illustrious career at the station. His former boss Mike Okinyi described Ndong as one of the strongest and hardworking colleagues he has worked with and wished him all the best in his future aspirations.
Mukami Wambora her colleague on the desk on her part thanked Ndong for his guidance when she joined the media house.
“A lot of people don’t know this, I’m not a trained journalist I just have a passion for sports so I came in completely raw and Mike and Bernard had to teach me how script, how to edit from the very beginning and I have never felt so supported within a team,” Wambora emotionally narrated.
Waihiga Mwaura who also started out at the station's sports desk said the sports desk was going to have a void after Ndong’s departure but regardless he knew Ndong was going to shine wherever he went.
