He couldn't have been more right, meet tall dark and handsome Stephen Okoth, a 25-year-old fashionista from Kibera, the largest slum in East and Central Africa.
His signature bright clothes sourced from local second-hand markets have turned him into a local celebrity and anywhere he goes onlookers stand to admire his unique taste in fashion..
Ondivour, a local slang meaning "on the go” as he is popularly known because he is always moving from one location to the next around Kibera for his photography jobs has made it his mission to brighten Kibera.

Stephen who is a film maker and photographer was born and raised in Kibera and says he is keen to present a different image of the place, instead of the usual sad stories of poverty and deprivation.
While growing up, he was affected by the prevalence of drugs and crime, but was determined to do something different.
His dark complexion contrast well with the bright clothes to ensure he is always a sight to beyond whenever he ventures out.

At one time he switched back to normal dull colours but Kibera residents quickly told him that he looked boring and he should stick to his unique style.
Stephen who strives to wear a different outfit every day shops at Nairobi's huge Gikomba market and toi for his clothes.
Whenever he comes across something he likes, he will give his number to the stall owner and ask them to alert him if anything similar arrives in the future.
His hobby does not come cheap as he spends about 1,000 Kenya shillings (£8; $10) for a pair of trousers and Ksh 800 for a shirt.

People have likened his style to that of sapeurs from the democratic republic of Congo, who are devout fashionistas' with a taste in high end clothes despite their humble backgrounds.
Stephen however prefer to call his style "picha marangi", Swahili for colourful picture.
One thing is certain though, he does for sure have a bright future.
