A quick and easy DIY tutorial to turn a vest into a bodysuit

When you can't find one in your size, make yourself one

Bodysuits are a must-have wardrobe possession. They come in handy when you need to wear low-waists and high-waists without looking tacky. Plus, you can pair bodysuits with just about anything. Another plus is that they come in all shapes, designs such as cut outs, plunging necklines, cold shoulders or even long sleeved. From velvet to cotton to scuba fabric, there’s a bodysuit design for every woman and every body type.

The only problem is that this very important wardrobe staple can be quite hard to find. And if you do find one, it’s probably not the right size. If you have been desperately looking for the perfect bodysuit to no avail, we will show you how you can make one at home using an old vest.

All you need is:

An old vest made out of stretchy fabric.

One of your underwear.

Fabric glue or a thread and needle.

A pair of scissors.

A pen.

Instructions:

1. Get your vest and lay it on a flat surface.

2. Place your underwear on the vest, near the hemline of the vest to help guide you on the cut.

3. Measure the underwear’s V-shape and cut out the fabric you don’t need.

4. Now all you have to do is sew the center part to turn the vest into a bodysuit. If you have fabric glue, you can use that too.

If the vest is not too stretchy, you can iron it thoroughly before stitching the mid part.

5. There you have it.

You can now rock your bodysuit with your jeans, shorts or skirt, without spending a dime.
