Technology has evolved with time and what used to be cool 10 years ago has no place in the market today.

For instance, when mobile phones first reached Kenya, whoever owned one was very privileged. And, the phone seemed cool because very few people had it. It didn’t matter how large it was but just walking around with a hand held electronic gadget that could allow you to communicate with your relatives in Nairobi while in the village was in itself a cool thing.

It also didn’t matter whether you had to climb a hill to use it; the bottom line was that you had a cool gadget that everyone desired.

While most of those phones are no longer in the market, most brands have upgraded and come up with other modernized gadgets.

But we sure cannot forget these phones:

1. Philips

Now now, you are wondering why anyone would think that such a phone is cool. But here is the thing, there was something about these phones with aerials. And by the way, they were not for everyone. The aerial showed some class and authority and were common among rich men. If only you saw how proudly and confidently they walked holding this gadget!

2. Motorola C113

I have never gotten why this phone was so popular especially among business people. Maybe everyone liked it since it could fit in your palms comfortably unlike the bigger gadgets that preceded it. But still, the noise it it made would make you deaf for a moment yet that didn't really matter.

3. Nokia phone with an aerial

Nokia phones were loved by many since they were very easy to use given that phone technology was still a new thing among people.  But the snake game and the not so annoying ringing tones like those of motorolla C113 made Nokia even cooler.

With a new craze for Internet, Whatsapp came and everyone wanted to join. And good enough, Nokia developed phones that were quite affordable and could let be in Whatsapp like everyone else. Asha phones came in different colours and some integrated a button keyboard and a touchscreen one. Couldn't be cooler. Lol.

5. Ideos

This phone was heaven men. Around 2010, it was one of the most expensive and classic phones in the market.  It was pretty and came with most smart phone features only that it never lasted for long before disappearing out of market. You only owned this phone if you had a good job or your parents were rich, huh?
