Kenyans warned not to take selfies with wild animals

A new report revealed that Kenya takes the lead in the country with the most selfies taken with wild animals.

According to the Wildlife Selfies Report, such selfies are deemed as inappropriate because the animals are being used as props.

Kenya has been ranked among the top 20 countries with inappropriate wildlife selfies.

The study conducted by the World Animal Protection, focused on social media platforms – especially Instagram – sought to trace users that posted selfies with wild animals.

Findings of the research showed that sixty seven percent of the social media posts featured lions from parks in South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania while 28 percent of posts with giraffes were mainly shared from Kenya.

The report highly condemns taking pictures while hugging and holding wild animals.

Pictures portraying people interacting with animals in their natural habitat were however seen to be good selfies.
