The cast of Rafiki looks great in the French Riviera!

The 71st edition of the festival will see Hollywood stars, Producers, Actors, Actresses and film enthusiasts throng the event whose purpose is to draw attention to and raise the profile of films, with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level.

Controversial Kenyan film, Rafiki, by Wanuri Kahiu was the first Kenyan feature film to be selected by the Cannes Film Festival.

The film follows Kena and Ziki, two close friends who eventually fall in love. Their families are on opposing sides of the political divide. The lesbian love story was inspired by the 2007 Caine Prize winning story Jambula Tree by Ugandan writer Monica Arac de Nyeko and produced by Steven Markovitz.

The cast of the film is in the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival and it’s a proud moment for them.
