You can have hash browns for breakfast or as an in-between meals snack. They are delicious, healthy and a better alternative to the daily mandazi or bread.

So we decided to give them a try, and yes, delicious is an understatement. We totally loved them. They are very easy to prepare and you don’t need to be a chef to make them.

Just follow this simple recipe that we used and you will make the sweetest hash browns ever.

You could add to the amounts of the ingredients or reduce depending on how the quantity you want. You could also add the spices of your choice. In our case, we used black pepper which gave them an enhanced taste.

Ingredients:

5 medium-sized potatoes

1 egg

Pinch of salt

1 tablespoonful all-purpose flour

Cooking oil

Spices(optional)

Procedure

Peel the potatoes and grate them. Then wash them well to remove the white substance(starch).

Using a clean kitchen clothe, squeeze water out of the grated potatoes.

Put them in a bowl and add flour, the egg, a pinch of salt and your preferred spices. Mix well and make shapes of your choice from the mixture.

Heat your pan and add some oil and fry your hash browns.

Remember, you are not deep frying them. So the oil shouldn’t be too much but just enough to ensure they cook well without burning.

When the lower side is brown enough, turn to fry the other side.

Now sit and devour your hash browns.
