Akatekyi Crocodile Pond is located about 30km west of Takoradi, in the Western Region.

  • The Village on Stilt of Nzulezu

The beautiful village of Nzulezo,  located roughly 90 kilometers west of Takoradi, in the Jomoro District of the Western Region of Ghana is the best place to spend the weekend with your partner or family.

The houses are built on stilts, and traditional village life adapts to the watery conditions.

The excursion from Beyin involves a walk through the reeds at the lake’s edge and a trip in a dugout canoe to the village.

  • Dr. Nkrumah’s Grave

Kwame Nkrumah (21 September 1909 – 27 April 1972) was the first prime minister and president of Ghana. The original grave of Dr. Nkrumah and now buried in the mausoleum in Accra can be found at Nkroful, 83 km west of Takoradi.

  • Ankasa Conservation Area

The Ankasa Conservation Area is an area in southwestern Ghana, in Ghana's Western Region, about 365 kilometers west of Accra near the border with Côte d'Ivoire. It incorporates the Nini Suhien National Park and the Ankasa Resource Reserve.  Animal life includes the elephant, bongo, chimpanzee, Diana monkey, and 263 species of birds.

The park includes basic camping facilities with shelters, toilets, and running water along with many facilities for sitting down and having a chat.

  • Akatekyi Crocodile Pond

30km west of Takoradi, the local fetish priest entices the crocodiles from the water with a live chicken. Bring a bottle of schnapps for the libation. Visitors are welcome every day except Wednesday, a sacred day.
