Chris Hemsworth Covers Johnny Cash as Fat Thor

In the months since the release of Avengers: Endgame, nothing has held the public's interest quite like Chris Hemsworth 's transformation from regular Thor into Fat Thor -or as they called him on the set, Lebowski Thor .

In the latest Fat Thor revelation, Hemsworth shared a never-before-seen video from the Endgame set during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The video finds the Thor actor in quite an unexpected but fitting hook. He's in character-weight gain, big beard, and cardigan-clad-playing guitar while singing the Johnny Cash version of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt," which Hemsworth described as "the saddest song in the world."

"I didn't know if I was ever even going to show it," he told Fallon, before joking that he was getting into character. "It was in the trailer, between a few takes."

Hemsworth felt the need to neg himself before The Tonight Show rolled the video ("I'm a terrible singer and a terrible guitarist,") but guess what? It doesn't sound half bad!

Fat Thor singing "Hurt" in Endgame would have been fantastic. (There obviously would've been a licensing cost involved, but let's be real, Disney can afford it.) I want to hear him singing longer after hearing the clip! I take back "doesn't sound half bad"-it sounds great, and seeing it come from the in-character Hemsworth makes me really wish it would've made it into the movie somehow. At least we can feel pretty confident that Thor is still a part of the MCU going forward . Plus, we'll always have this clip.

Aside from the song, Hemsworth also shared that he, too, has been getting a good bit of notable feedback regarding Fat Thor. In fact, the actor said he got an e-mail from actor/writer/director Kevin Smith (best known for his role as Silent Bob), that said "overweight middle-aged white men are very happy for that new superhero."

Fat Thor has been a revelation, has a bright future, and now we know that he can step into Trent Reznor or Johnny Cash's shoes whenever need be. What a man.
