I think that George Lucas played with the Western undertones with the first movie, Episode IV, and now theyre taking the suggestions of that tone and infusing it with steroids, Pascal told Variety in a new interview.
Pascal again compares his character to those of Western poster boy Eastwood, saying that he had to dial into his posture and gesture" when developing the character; not only is his face almost always hidden by the signature Boba Fett -esque mask, but he rarely speaks either.
The former Game of Thrones star also mentioned that due to the show's existence on a brand new streaming platform, there was never any specific mandate to stick to any particular timeframe. He said that one episode could feel much more intimate, (maybe a quick, character-based bottle episode?) and others could be epic and 15 pages longer than the previous one (this one will probably have some of the major action we saw in the trailers).
The article goes on to describe the Western ideal of slower pacing, saying that the show feels a slower pace than any of the movies, which typically find themselves jumping from epic space battle to epic blaster battle to epic lightsaber duel back-to-back-to-back. The Mandalorian, working contrary to that, should give these moments more space to breathe; the show wants to hook you for the long haul.
