Kenya Women Microfinance Bank (KWFT)  is the best company to work for in 2016!

KWFT, was voted the best company to work for in the just concluded annual survey by audit firm Deloitte East Africa.

The micro-lender was also voted the second best in 2015 and 2014 respectively.

The average age of KWFT employee is 26 years old and 55 per cent of its employees are women.

Giant brewer East African Breweries emerged second best, while CIC Group was third in the large-sized companies’ category which focuses on firms with more than 500 employees.

KWFT is kenya’s largest micro-lender and controls about 45.5 per cent of the deposit-taking microfinance segment.

KWFT was recognized for providing a conducive working environment for its more than 3000 staff.

“I think that considering that we came in second place for the past two years, we were bound to get this win. With over 3,000 employees, we do our best to make them want to stay with us,” the lender's managing director Mwangi Githaiga said.

Medium-Size category

German logistics company, Deutsche Post (DHL) emerge the top in the medium-sized category.

ICEA Lion Group came second followed by Capital Markets Authority in the third position.

In the Deloitte's standard of excellence category, other recognised companies were Magadi-based Tata Chemicals, technology firm Spenomatic, and clothing retailer Deacons which scooped the first three positions, respectively, with 3.7 rating out of five.

Deloitte survey is now in its 5th year, the survey was kick started in July 2016.

The survey aims to identify, celebrate and rate the best companies to work for in Kenya based on their most important shareholder group, namely their employees.

The survey measured 10 parameters including leadership, operational effectiveness, inclusion, relationship with supervisors, fairness and equity, overall job satisfaction, learning and development, values and culture, performance and recognition, as well as remuneration.
