7 simple ways to make extra cash from old items

Why not make some money while trying to sort through the mess?

One free weekend (hopefully if you have no owambe party to attend), do a proper home cleaning and decongest your home of the unused things around. (Lightbulb moment! a yardsale maybe?)

Instead of disposing the unnecessary stuff into a trash bin, you can sell them off at a very reasonable amount. Making extra cash for yourself and also putting a smile on someone's face.

Before selling fairly old stuff in your home, make sure you are positive you do not need the item again. It does not make sense to sell something off for a cheap price and later realize you need the item then you go out to buy again double or triple the price.

Here are pointers for old items you can sell off

1. Clothings

We all have clothing items we don't wear in months, some in years. Give your wardrobe a breath of fresh air today by selling off unused clothes

2. Shoes and bags

This goes out to most ladies with lots of handbags and different kinds of pairs of shoes. You guys are not left out. Guys these days are in serious competition with ladies over who owns the most pairs of shoes.

If you must know, shoes and bags exposed to dust wear out pretty fast if not worn in a long time. So instead of having the Imelda Marcos syndrome, try selling shoes and bags you don't really use.

3. Jewelry and fashion accessories

You could sell authentic jewelry and fashion accessories for good price. Gold does appreciate.

4. Kitchen utensils

Don't build a house for insects and rodents to live in by storing up unused pots and kettles. Sell them today.

5. Recyclable materials

Old newspapers and magazines, used cans and bottles, can make you some quick cash. You can sell old newspapers to the woman who fries akara and puff puff or the aboki who sells suya. Or sell to recycling companies. Help save your eco-system.

6. Vintage items

Old furniture, ancients antiques, and artworks that belonged to your grandparents, just taking up unnecessary space would make a great deal of sense to someone who collects vintage items and antiques. You might be lucky to get a good deal for them.

7. Old toys

Your children are all grown and they don't play with toys anymore. Just sell it off. You can sell old stuffs online or do a yardsale. Who says 2nd hand doesn't value?
