How do I leave my older girlfriend without hurting her?

I want to let go of her before it becomes a lot more serious than it already is.

Dear Bukky,

I met this girl and we hit it off. It turns out that she is three years older than I am.

We had become really close then, and I did not want to end things and break her heart because I thought she just wanted a fling and she would get fed up and move on soon enough.

We’ve been dating now for seven months and it’s getting too serious for comfort.

I know my folks won't approve if it ever gets to the point of marriage, so it's better to cut the ties before things get that serious.

The problem is that I don’t want to break her heart.

How best can I go about this without hurting her?____________________

Let me be clear from the onset; I doubt there is any way to let go of her without breaking her heart.

If things have gone this far between you and she’s showing no signs of disinterest, most likely it means she has no problem with being with you for the long term, and breaking up with her will almost certainly break her heart.

Nonetheless, I believe if you are honest about why you are breaking up with her, and explain yourself as gently as possible, she might just understand you.

It won't take away the hurt of being dumped. It might just alleviate it a bit.

Just be as honest and gentle as possible.

And hope she understands your reason and not freak out._____________________
