We could rant about it. I mean, who wants to be left to wallow in their own post coitus insecurities or glow while their partner snores away?

However, there are various reasons why your man falls asleep after sex and it has nothing to do with you, your relationship or how you perform in bed.

According to sex therapist, David Mckenzie, a man's body chemistry changes after orgasm. This is their bodies release a hormone known as prolactin that makes him very tired.

In their book, the authors of Why Do Men Fall Asleep After Sex?Mark Leyner and Billy Goldberg explain that the exertion during sex and after climax depletes the muscles of energy-producing glycogen. This makes men exhausted since they have more muscle than women.

Similarly, there is a reason why women don't.

Leyner and Goldberg also argue that since the female orgasm is not as external as the male (ejaculation and all) they does not experience the same kind of loss of  energy as males.

Laurie Betito a psychologist specialising in sex therapy accounts it to the psychological nature of women. According to her, women like to process their experiences hence the desire to discuss after sex.

However it would be wrong to pin it on the men.  At the end of it all, both sexes feel relaxed, warm, content and sleep after sex. Yes, rhere are times when it's the ladies who passes out after sex.

So the next time your man falls asleep after a round in the sheets don't get upset about it, it's an indication that you did good baby girl, you did darn good.
