Shock as bride dies 11 hours after wedding

Joy turned into grief after...

Joy turned into grief in Mtoni, a village Dar es Salaam after a couple got married at 4:00 P.m and the bride passed away before 4.00 am the following day. The bride was six months pregnant and she passed away after complaining of stomach pain.

Speaking to Clouds FM, the girl’s mum says that she was okay when she left their home.

“Tumemwozesha tu muda wa saa kumi jioni, asubuhi alikua mzima, tunaongea na tunapiga picha. Saa kumi aliolewa na saa kumi na mbili akaenda kwa bwanake." She said. (She got married at 4 o'clock and that morning she was okay, we were talking and taking pictures. She got married at 4 and by 6 she went to her husband’s house).

Her mum revealed that her daughter left with her 12-year-old sister who was crying relentlessly and since they thought she was crying because she didn’t want to see her sister go, her mother allowed her to accompany the bride to the grooms’ house. All through, the 12-year-old kept crying but the bride managed to comfort her and at 9:00 PM, the young girl left for home.

“Saa sita usiku nikaskia nimeshtuka na dadake akakuja kunigongea chumbani akisema amepigiwa simu kuwa dadake anumwa na tumbo.” She said.

After receiving the news, the bride’s mum packed 3 lessos and the medical card for the bride. Items that were picked by the car ferrying the sick girl and she was left behind preparing to leave the house for the hospital alongside her husband.And about 20 minutes later, she was informed that her daughter was in critical condition and so she left the house in a rush. But she had barely reached the hospital when she learnt that her daughter had passed away.

“I couldn’t believe it until I saw the body. I am still in shock.” She said after her daughter was laid to rest.

The tragedy has been received with a lot of shock in the village as it is not usual for a bride to pass away a few hours after her wedding.
