Jennifer Aniston's Skincare Routine Includes Sunday Spa Days And Decades Of Moisturizer

Jennifer Aniston's Skincare Routine
  • Jennifer Aniston's skincare routine has barely changed in decades.
  • Her go-to moisturizer has been Aveeno since she was 15, long before she became a global brand ambassador.
  • The Morning Show actress has multiple go-to facialists around the country she visits to switch up her routine.

Jennifer Aniston, and her glowing complexion , is back on screens in Apple TV's The Morning Show. She's offering up a weekly reminder that decades of dedicated skincare truly pay off.

Jen, who turned 50 this year, admits she got a head start with good genes. I inherited good skin from my dad, Aniston told LA Times . But one thing I would have to say to my younger self is, Dont take that for granted, because you do have to maintain that. It does have a shelf life.

It's safe to say, her skin maintenance is going well. One moisturizer has been a in her routine from the very beginning. She calls Aveeno "my best friend since I was a teenager." Jennifer has been a fan of the products for decades. "I think it's because my mom told me to start moisturizing when I turned 15," she told InStyle . "I've been using Aveeno since I was a teenager." Her experience set her up to become Aveeno's spokesperson in 2013.

"The Aveeno moisturizer is the one I've been using since I was a teenager," she told Allure . But she didn't always make great beauty decisions back then. "You didn't really know anything else but to put on moisturizer and to over-pancake your face. That's what the '80s were." She stores her Aveeno moisturizing lotion in the shower and slathers it on before I toweling off, per Australia's Now to Love . "This is an extra trick for extra hydration as your body is still warm. So, especially in the winter months, its really nice to get that extra bit of hydration. Thats it in a nutshell.

Jen also added a new overnight product into her repertoire. " Sunday is my spa day . I usually do a little mini facial time where I just give myself a good scrub, use a mask, and then the new Aveeno hydrating facial . I leave it on overnight and when I wake up I have that dewy, glowing, twinkling skin."

"I don't overwash my face because you don't want to strip away too much," Jennifer told Allure . "And then I just put on nourishing things I feel are as organic as possible." Instead, Jennifer goes for ice water. Another good one that my facialist taught me is just get a bowl of ice water and splash your face 25 times," she told Vogue . "Its an old school trick that Joan Crawford used to doit just wakes your skin up.

Jennifer has a team of pros she turns to for her skin. "I love facials and I change up my facialist, Jennifer told LA Times . "Its like exercise. Its good to mix it up. I have a list of facialists that are my go-tos, including Georgia Louise [in New York], Melanie Simon [in Montecito, Calif.], Lena [Bratschi from Carasoin Spa in West Hollywood] and Joanna Czech, who comes [into town] every once in a while [from Dallas and New York]. Theyre fabulous."

The tried-and-true team is more Jennifer's speed. Though, she did try a more intensive treatment once. I had a laser treatment about 10 years ago that just bloodied my face for about a month, she told Vogue . It was way too aggressive and thats when I realized that what might work in the short term can be damaging in the long run.

Jennifer also cares about the ingredients in the products she uses. We are sold such a bill of goods wrapped up in expensive packaging but I have found that when it comes to a skincare routine, the simpler the better, she told Vogue . Im obsessed with the science bit. I find it very interesting and working with beauty brands like Aveeno helped me to learn that there are so many chemicals in products that really arent good for skin.

At home, she has a mini arsenal of DIY treatments: an at-home infrared sauna for a post-workout sweat, makeup artist Jillian Dempseys 24-carat, gold plated t-bar wand , and facialist Melanie Simons ZIIP nanocurrent device . I have never seen such a result from a little machine like that, she told Vogue . Both tools aim to help brighten and tighten skin to reverse the signs of aging. As for the sauna, which she heard about from Courtney Cox, told Shape ,"It's such a game changer in terms of your skin detoxification and cell rejuvenation. So that I do a couple times a week right after I do the gym. I've noticed a real change in my energy, and my sleep, and my skin."

Jennifer lets her skin get sun-kissed, but wears sunscreen. I still sit in the sun...you need that vitamin D for a glow and your mood, Jennifer told Vogue . But I know I cant do it all year round, and I have become a fan of body bronzers and spray tans.

There are some treatment trends she's steering clear of. "Well, I wont put leeches on my face because thats terrifying," Jennifer told LA Times . "I dont know how that can be great for you. I mean, I dont know and I dont care. What else would I never do? Im not a fan of retinols. They strip the strength of your skin. I stay away from them."

We just need to be very good to our skinjust take very good care of it," Jennifer told Australia's Now to Love . "Keep it healthy, and keep it tended toas we tend to our cars, as we tend to our appliances, as we tend to everything else we tend to.
