Jessica Simpson Just Shared A Totally-Normal, Not-At-All Swollen Ankle Selfie 3 Months After Giving Birth

Jessica Simpson Shares Ankle Selfie On Instagram
  • Jessica Simpson shared a new Instagram photo showing her defined ankles.
  • Jessica, who gave birth three months ago to a little girl named Birdie Mae Johnson, had extremely swollen ankles during her pregnancy.
  • In addition to ankle swelling, Jessica also dealt with a host of other issues like acid reflux and insomnia.

If you followed along with Jessica Simpsons latest pregnancy, you know that she went through a lot. She had severely swollen ankles , struggled with sciatica pain, and even spent some time in the hospital due to bronchitis.

But back to those ankles-Jessica just shared on Instagram that hers are pretty much back to how they looked before her pregnancy. "I spy....my ankles!!!! she captioned a shot of her slender-looking leg (also: peep those calf and thigh muscles!).

Jessica also tagged trainer Harley Pasternack in the photo. Harley commented: "Soooooo proud!!!"

Back in January, Jessica shared a photo on Instagram of her foot and ankle looking incredibly swollen. "Any remedies?! Help!!!!" she captioned the shot.

Turns out, though, swollen ankles during pregnancy are totally normal, Jessica Shepherd , M.D., a minimally-invasive gynecologist in Dallas, previously told Women's Health. It's all thanks to fluid retention, hormonal changes, and pressure from your uterus which impairs the return of blood to your heart.

It can, however, also be a sign of preeclampsia, a serious and potentially fatal pregnancy complication that causes high blood pressure, so its not something you want to totally ignore, per the National Institutes of Health.

IDK about you, but I am so relieved Jess's ankles have gone back down to their post-baby size. Here's to hoping she's enjoying tons of time with baby Birdie.
