School lunches dont exactly have the best reputation, and parents generally accept that their kids wont be eating a five-star meal in the school caf. But when Kourtney Kardashians children are involved, its a different story.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star just opened up in a recent post on her lifestyle blog Poosh about why she felt she needed to speak up about the food that was being served at her childrens school.

Being a mom to three kidsMason, 9, Penelope, 7, and Reign, 4Kourtney said it was "unsettling" to see the kind of meals and snacks that were being served at her kids' schools. She specifically called out processed foods and produce that wasnt fresh or organic.

"As moms, its in our power to raise some awareness and rally for healthier options," she wrote. "I wasnt satisfied with the food being served at my kids school, so I made sure that the principal knew my concerns."

It may come as no surprise that Kourtney isn't a fan of standard school lunches, given how notoriously healthy she eats. Kourtney and her kids follow a gluten- and dairy-free diet, and she regularly preaches about the importance of eating organic and clean.

Kourtney said shes "continued to offer my two cents on everything from the type of milk they serve to their use of single-use plastic." And while Kourtney acknowledged that she probably seems "annoying" to the school powers that be, she's nonetheless standing her ground. "In the long run, Im doing it for my children and their futures," she wrote.

Kourtney also encouraged other parents to try to be more eco-conscious and to stand up for what they believe in, noting that people dont need to "donate large sums of money" or start a foundation in order to spark change.

"Ive found that simply using my voice to stand up for small changes that add up to big impacts is so effective at not only creating change, but setting an example for my children," she said. "I may not be the loudest or the most aggressive, but Ive never been one to stand by and watch something I disagree with unfold." Kudos, Kourt!
