Addressing the press on Sunday, their leader Wilfred Kamau divulged that they had mobilised supporters from different regions to safeguard Kenyatta's presidency and would square it out on the streets.
"We have mobilised business community members from Nakuru, Thika, Limuru and Murang'a among other places to support us."An unguarded presidency is a vanity [uthamaki utari mugitire ni tugu], therefore, we must protect our presidency," Kamau affirmed. The members announced that they would not allow businesses to be disrupted and looting of property ahead of the Opposition protests slated for Monday. "We have been called names including being linked to Mungiki but we will stop at nothing to protect the presidency," the chairman said. The group, whose origin remains unknown, said that NASA demos were meant to dethrone Kenyatta and disrupt businesses and could lead to loss of lives. On Friday, Odinga announced that they would hold peaceful protests every Monday and Friday adding that the only thing jubilee understood was mass action. The Opposition is demanding the resignation of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba, whom they claim was used in rigging the August 8 polls in favour of Kenyatta.
On the other hand, Chiloba has maintained that he won't resign and his main focus is preparing for the fresh presidential election scheduled for October 26. During the full judgement delivered by the supreme court leading to the nullification of the Presidential results, no IEBC official was found culpable of malpractices.
