The disagreements became imminent after Suba MP John Mbadi on Monday announced the line up for Parliamentary leadership position. An hour later NASA Secretariat head Norman Magaya sent out a press release dismissing Mbadi’s list.
According to Magaya, the NASA leadership had not made any decisions regarding House positions and had planned a retreat to discuss the matter.
“The resolution of the last Parliamentary Group Meeting of the Coalition held last week at Okoa Kenya offices in Nairobi that a retreat will be organized to have members deliberate, agree and make a resolution on the matter, still stands,” the NASA secretariat boss noted.
The message from the secretariat differed with a statement from Mbadi, who is also the ODM Chairman.
Speaking at a National Assembly induction ceremony on Monday, Mbadi announced that he would serve as the Minority leader and would be deputized by Lugari MP Ayab Suvula (ANC).
Kathiani MP Robert Mbui (Wiper) was also introduced as the new Minority Chief whip with Petronilla Were serving as deputy Chief Whip.
Sources inside the coalition indicated that the distribution of parliamentary positions had caused anxiety over the balance of political interest between the coalition parties.
