Atleast two people have been reported dead with many left homeless following a tragic landslide in Makueni.

Reports indicate that the landslide which has been blamed on heavy rains pounding the country affected Kilungu village.

The incident was confirmed by Makueni Police Commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan who did not reveal more details.

According to the area MCA Patrick Mbevi, over 20 families have been affected by the landslide.

The Kenya Metrological Department, ion November 28, 2019, issued a warning of heavy rainfall and possible tragedies in 19 counties including Makueni, Narok, Kajiado, Bomet, Kericho, Nakuru, Migori, Nyamira, Kisii, Homa Bay, Kisumu, and Siaya.

“Heavy rainfall of more than 30mm in 24hours is expected as from Friday 29th November 2019 over the South Rift, Central Rift and Nyanza regions.

“The heavy rainfall is likely to spread over parts of Central, Nairobi, South East lowlands on Tuesday 3rd December 2019.” read the statement in part.

 This was shortly after the West Pokot landslide that left more than 40 people dead a hundreds others displaced.
