DCI arrests 27-year-old Bobby Kariuki in Kileleshwa for allegedly possessing over Sh200 million fake cash in euros, pounds and dollars

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Thursday arrested a man in Kileleshwa who was found in possession of fake currency.

One Bobby Kariuki Kimani allegedly had Sh200 million in fake dollar, euro and pound notes.

According to a statement from the DCI, the 27-year-old man was nabbed after detectives acted o a tip-off.

The suspect was scheduled to be arraigned in court on Friday to answer to charges of forgery.

Fake new currency in Kenya

Earlier in the week, three people were arrested in Yatta, Machakos County with fake notes of the new Kenyan currency.

The three - a Congolese, a Nigerian and a Kenyan - were ambushed in Kakumuni village after residents raised suspicions over their activities.

"We believe they chose such a place because of less suspicion but we will get them," Machakos County Commissioner Farah Maalim conveyed.
