Three students were arrested after a teacher who was overseeing night preps was found dead on Friday morning.

Reports said that the teacher from Hopewell School, Nakuru had seized a mobile phone from one of the students who is in Form Four.

The director of the School, Vitalis TIX Kahendah said that the phone belonged to one of the suspects who is not a student but lived in the school’s neighbourhood.

Brutal attack

This is a mixed day and boarding school. It was a shock. We called the local authorities because we already had a general idea; we mentioned a few suspects,” he said.

It is presumed the attackers who brutally beat the teacher to the head were let into the school compound through an opening in the perimeter wall.

Kahendah said that the school has zero tolerance on students being in possession of phones in the institution.

I think the motive is the phone, which was confiscated from the student," Kahendah said.

"Our rule here is that once a student is found in possession of a mobile phone, it is confiscated and handed over to him/her at the end of schooling. This might have informed the attack,” he added.
