5 family members killed by flash floods at Ngatatoek area in Kajiado Central

Five members of one family perished on Monday morning after a vehicle they were traveling in was swept away by flash floods.

The tragic accident took place at Ngatatoek area in Kajiado Central constituency.

The vehicle was recovered downstream though authorities are yet to confirm whether there were other casualties of the incident.

West Pokot landslide death toll rises

The accident comes in the wake of a tragic land slide that has so far claimed the lives of 43 people in West Pokot County.

The land slide hit three villages - Nyarkulian, Muino and Parua where the people were buried alive at around 2 a.m on Saturday.

The government evacuated residents fro neighbouring villages as a precautionary measure.

President Uhuru Kenyatta condoled with families of the bereaved stating: "My thoughts and prayers, and those of our entire nation are with families, friends and relatives of those who lost their beloved ones in the unfortunate incident. Please accept my heartfelt condolences."
