Six people died on the spot while six others were injured after a head on collision that involved a lorry and a matatu at Dundori area along the Nakuru-Nyahururu highway in Nakuru County.

Sources on the ground indicated that the accident occurred after the 14-seater matatu which was heading to Nakuru from Dundori, collided with a small truck that was carrying logs of wood.

Reports indicated that the driver of the matatu that belongs to 3N TO SACCO, did not see the truck being pulled by the lorry and lost control of the vehicle before veering off the road.

The injured had been rushed to hospital in critical condition.

In November 2017, police officers were on a man hunt for unknown assailants who drove a car to Dundori forest and set it on fire.

Residents of the area who witnessed the incident, stated that several gunshots were heard within the forest at around midday, before a huge dark smoke was seen coming from the area.
