Majority Leader Aden Duale on Wednesday hit out at Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa for allegedly spreading the political agenda of the Tanga Tanga movement.
Duale reacted after Ichung’wa told Parliament that he was well aware of the state of various government projects because he has been “tanga tangaring”.
The comment did not sit well with Duale who demanded for the term Tanga Tanga to be banned in Parliament, further accusing the Kikuyu MP of being the defector leader of the controversial movement.
The Majority Leader claimed Ichungwa was to blame for the arrest of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro for allegedly recruiting him into Tanga Tanga.
“Tanga Tanga is not an english word and the honorable member should not use this Parliament to spread the agenda of his movement. If he wants to do that let him resign from Jubilee and turn his movement into a political party. I will whip out so that he stops Chairing the Budget committee.”
“This is the man who made Nyoro to be arrested. He is recruiting people everywhere,” Duale stated.
Kieleweke vs Tanga Tanga
The Majority Leader has recently been keen to avoid the proxy wars between Deputy President William Ruto, who is supported by the Tanga Tanga wing, and President Uhuru Kenyatta whose perceived allies are in Kieleweke team.
Despite being a close ally of the DP, Duale has said he would support the call for a referendum which Ruto has categorically opposed.
The Garissa Township MP, however, maintained that he remained strongly in support of Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
