Patrick Nyapara the Administration Police Officer who allegedly shot dead his 24 year old lover Christine Maonga in Navakholo on Thursday has been arrested.

The suspect was arrested by police in Busia along the Kenya-Uganda border Saturday afternoon as he attempted to sneak into Uganda.

Western regional commander, Rashid Yakub confirmed the arrest, adding that Mr Nyapara will be arraigned once investigations are completed.

Mr. Nyapara is an AP officer manning the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices in Navakholo, Kakamega County.

He made headlines on 14 March after he allegedly pumped 3 bullets into the body of his 24-year-old killing her instantly.

Reports indicate that the couple differed sharply before the bizarre incident at Duka Moja estate in Navakholo. The deceased, a mother of one, was a Literature teacher at Navakholo Secondary School.

Postmortem examination for the deceased mother of one is set for Monday, March 18.
