During the visit, Kenyatta was introduced to the prominent family before the multi-billion tender was awarded to Al Ghurair Printing & Publishing.
This was echoed by opposition leader and Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga who on Tuesday during the national elections conference at the KICC warned there was mischief in the re-awarding of the multi-billion tender to the Dubai firm.
Raila claimed that the owners of the firm are close to Jubilee administration’s top officials and are likely to influence the outcome of the August 8, 2017 polls to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s favour.
Kenyans, have been cheated to believe that the process has been taking place in recent months. We have information that the firm has been in contact with senior Jubilee officials and owners of the firm hosted them in Dubai last year,” said the Orange Democratic Party leader Odinga.
The Star report said that Chairman Majid Al Ghurair again led a delegation from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce to Nairobi in October last which was hosted by the President at State House, Nairobi.
At the meeting the Ghurair family pitched to Kenyatta their vast business interests and introduced their security printing company for the upcoming IEBC tender.
It was at this point that top Jubilee officials at the meeting allegedly promised to deliver the contract.
